Abstrak

In recent years, Indonesia has been among the countries with the highest levels of seismic activity in the world, making earthquakes a frequent natural disaster with the potential to cause significant losses, both in terms of material damage and human casualties. Although centralized earthquake early warning systems are already available, these systems still have limitations in reaching the household level directly and rapidly. Therefore, this study aims to design and implement an Internet of Things (IoT)–based earthquake early warning system that can be independently used in residential environments. The developed system utilizes an SW-420 vibration sensor to detect seismic activity and a NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller as the data processing unit and internet-based communication medium. The system is designed to detect vibrations in real time and automatically send warning notifications to users via Telegram and Blynk applications. The research method employed is engineering research with a descriptive approach, encompassing stages of needs analysis, hardware design, software development, as well as system testing and performance evaluation. The test results indicate that the system is able to detect vibrations effectively, with an average response time of less than one second, and successfully delivers real-time warning notifications to users. Thus, this system can serve as an alternative earthquake early warning solution that is simple, cost-effective, and easy to implement at the household scale.
